Mark Ferfolia begins his 29th
season as the Head Varsity Ice Hockey Coach at Trinity High School.
Ferfolia was hired by then-athletic director Bob Wolfe in April of 1979
to start the Trojan Ice Hockey program and he has guided the Trinity
skaters since that point. Throughout his career at Trinity, Ferfolia has also served as an assistant varsity football coach (11 years - under head football coaches Bob Wolfe, Mike Hall, Dennis Danko and John Kall), and assistant varsity baseball coach (3 yrs under Dennis Danko). Additionally, he spent two years as an assistant varsity football coach at Warren G. Harding high school. Under his guidance, the Trojans have advanced to the State Final Four twice , in 1989 and 1992. They have also captured four divisional crowns: 2006 - (Red East) ,2005 (Red Southwest) , 1985 ( Central), and 1988 (Red South). The 1989 state title game against the Padua Bruins at the Brooklyn recreation center boasted the largest crowd ever for an Ohio High School championship game. In March of 2005 , Coach Ferfolia was awarded the prestigious Sportsmanship , ethics and integrity award from the Ohio High School Athletic Association for his work in Ice Hockey at the high school level. In addition , this fall , he begins a four year appointment on the national rules committee for Ice Hockey with the National Federation of High School Athletics. In this role , he will represent the midwest on the eight member panel which makes the rules for High School Ice Hockey. He has also devoted much time to the advancement of ice hockey in the state of Ohio. He has served as the President of the Ohio High School Ice Hockey coaches association since 1985. For the past 15 years, Coach Ferfolia has served on the Coaching Education staff of USA Hockey's Mid-American district, speaking at over 30 coaching clinics in the Midwest. He also serves at USA Hockey's high school section representative for the state of Ohio and acts as the General Manager of the Ohio High school squad which participates in the Showcase tournament in Chicago each April He has also served as a coach in the Garfield Hts. youth hockey program since 1977, at all levels. Coach Ferfolia lives in Sagamore Hills with his wife Christine and five children : Mark Jr. -20 (Three year Trojan ice hockey letterman - graduating in 2006), Rachael -17, Alex -16 (current member of the Trojan Ice hockey squad) Amy -14 and Christina -7
